Concerning Ingredients:
As far as toxicity goes, there are literally ZERO concerning ingredients in any of the Seed Legend products. I am so genuinely impressed with the quality of their ingredients and the fact that they work so well.
Trust me, I’ve tried plenty of non-toxic products that unfortunately just aren’t that effective.
Unknown Ingredient breakdown:
Saponins
Saponins are a compound found in different plant species and are rich in enzymes, glucose, and vitamin c. Seed Legend extracts their saponins from the Soapberry (yes, that’s an actual berry).
They base all of their products off of these powerful saponins due to their various benefits. Nutrients in saponins provide essential nourishment to cells. This helps boost cellular energy which catalyzes metabolic reactions and allows cells to clean and maintain health better.
Likewise, saponins are also naturally anti-bacterial, providing natural cleaning and disinfecting benefits.
The Seed Legend Soapberry Beauty line includes products that:
- Gently clean without stripping essential nutrients
- Soothe irritation
- Reduce redness
- Improve skin complexion
- Tighten skin and reduce pore size
- Reduce hair loss
- Improve hair strength
- Improve shine
- Encourage new hair growth
The Seed Legend Cleaning Line:
- For fruits and vegetables: removes chemical residue (like nasty pesticides)
- For dishes: removes grease, oil and sanitize dishes
- For cleaning: sanitizes countertops and other surfaces
betaine
I had to look up the ingredient betaine and discovered that it is a naturally occurring amino acid. It is used in hair care products for hydration purposes. One study found that when glycerol was used in hair care products, water retention in hair increased by 6%. However, when betaine was used, water retention in hair increased by 40%!
Betaine can also improve hair strength, elasticity, and shine and act as a protectant against environmental damage (all things I noticed immediately after using this shampoo). Okay, I’m obsessed with this ingredient now.
my experience:
Although this is a foaming shampoo, I have found that it doesn’t lather super well. At first, I was like, oh great, this isn’t going to clean anything. But after my first wash, I quickly realized I was wrong. So my advice would be, don’t let the lack of excessive lathering throw you off. I did, however, do two rinses (as most shampoo products will suggest) AND I let the shampoo sit in my hair for a few minutes as they recommend in the handout I received with the products.
I also LOVE the smell of their products. Even though there are zero fragrances of any kind, their products have the slightest hint of berry. Honestly, to me, they smell like the elderberry tea I make and it’s just delicious. The smell is so delicate and light which I absolutely love.
I don’t buy products that have “fragrance” on their labels (you can learn why in my article here). However, I do love a subtle natural scent and these are honestly perfect.
This Seed Legend Foaming Shampoo far exceeded my expectations to the point where when I run out of this bottle I will quickly be buying another.
other seed legend products I love:
- Foaming Body Wash
- Foaming Exfoliator
- Berry Oil (I use this on the ends of my hair after washing instead of conditioner)
- Produce Wash
- Dish Foam
How I Discovered Seed Legend Products:
Seed Legend actually reached out to me to see if I would be interested in trying their products. Before I say yes to even trying a new product I go straight to a brand’s website and go through their ingredients list. If there aren’t any glaring red flags, I’ll say yes to testing them out and sharing my honest opinion.
I have to say I am so glad Seed Legend did reach out as several of their products are now staples in my body care and even home routines.
